CULTURE / Architecture
Pordenone

Former Convent of St. Francis

The complex was founded by the Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual and built by Francesco Ricchieri with the authorization of Pope Martino V and the Bishop of Concordia, Arrigo di Strassoldo. It dates back to 1424 and contains frescoes by Pordenone, now transferred to the Art Museum. In 1767 the Venetian Republic abolished the church and convent: private bodies purchased the complex for the most diverse uses. Currently owned by the municipality of Pordenone, it usually hosts exhibitions, conferences and concerts.
