Deep and narrow ravines, rocks that drop vertically into the turquoise mirrors. The silence of nature is only broken by the pleasant hubbub of the waters that, whirling, descend to the valley setting in motion at one time the turbines of the old power station. The triumph of the pure and uncontaminated environment is found here, in the land that is the access door to the enchanting Valcellina and an open book on history. Land of the heretical miller Domenico Scandella called the Menocchio, condemned to the stake for heresy.

Veneto villas were lived in by poets and nobility and are the setting for this community surrounded by nature and crossed by numerous watercourses. Still to be seen in their old splendour are the marvellous buildings that belonged to men of letters Carlo and Gaspare Gozzi and some of which hosted Giacomo Casanova and Gabriele D'Annunzio. The environmental complex of the mills and the hydroelectric power station is striking. The director Damiano Damiani is from these parts.

Art and nature are the two elements that attract tourists to this community bordering the nearby Province of Udine. The intense activity carried out in the 1500s by Il Pordenone can still be admired in all its splendour in the various masterpieces, among which is the celebrated Nativity in the church of Santa Maria dei Battuti in Valeriano. And then the wood, the last strip of the large forest of the Pordenone plain, which with its colours it beats time with the rhythm of the seasons.

The true queen of this amazing territory is the nature. Sweetly lying around the Gorgazzo stream and in Livenza, the Pulcher vicus excites and amazes for its play of colours in its freshwaters when the seasons change.  The Karst spring, known as "El Buso" is a destination for divers and potholers. On the first Sunday in September, for over three hundred years, the sagra dei Sest (basket festival) dedicated to wickerwork, cane and raffia products is held.

A pearl set among the fabric of an ancient splendour, with castles and villas of unchanged beauty.  To protect and give prominence to the architecture, an enviable natural heritage is formed by pools, springs and watercourses in which the buildings are reflected. Past and present co-exist in harmony, because of the presence outside the historic town walls of the largest plant of the Swedish multinational Electrolux, once Zanussi-Rex. At the end of April the Napoleonic battle of the Camolli is commemorated.

Cradle of noblemen and great military men, but also of high prelates and a "missed" Pope in the ecclesiastic Pileo, founder of the first Paduan university college, it is lapped by the Meduna, Livenza, Sile and Fiume rivers, whose waters have contributed to creating a landscape rich in wet areas. It is one of the three communities that, together with Pasiano and Brugnera, are within the Furniture area, one of the most developed Italian furnishing clusters.

It jealously guards its origins as a rural village, inside its old gates and stone walls of the houses that face onto the public street. In the last Sunday in August it brings to life the ancient tradition that sees the eleven old hamlets in the village battle each other in the game of the pindoi, a game of accuracy that consists of throwing and hitting stones that represent the quarters of the adversaries.

The elegant Venetian architectures that are mirrored in the clear and transparent waters of the Livenza River, the bridges, its enchanting lanes, give this city a special fascination that justifies the definition "Garden of the Serenissima". Every August it hosts the centuries-old Sagra dei Osei (Bird Festival), one of the oldest country fairs in Italy, where the national song-thrush is crowned and a prize awarded to the best imitator of bird-songs.

As ancient documents recount, "a sorvegliar l'antica magione eretta a protezion de' pellegrini c'erano i pauperes commilitones Christi templiqui Salomonis". The most noted Knights Templars found shelter in this small strip of land to safeguard the wayfarers on their way to the Holy Land and having need of protection and assistance during their journey. On the third Sunday in October, on the occasion of the Festival of the Madonna della Salute, there is celebrated the traditional greasy pole game.

The square, set between the Raimonda and Scaramuccia towers and embellished by the frescoes of the elegant residences that overlook this drawing room of the city, is the beating heart of this community still girded by the old moat. The peasant culture, typical of the whole Province, brings its history to life in the museum contained within the elegant Palazzo Altan. In the first week of June the Piazza del Popolo is transformed into a large flower garden.

Very big in size Carnera, but very small the place he came from! The “good giant”, as he was called, who by dint of punches became first world heavyweight champion, was born and died in this community, which still preserves intact the memory of its athlete in the villa-museum in which he spent part of his life and where he closed his eyes for always. This is the area from which a great many floor-layers left to produced grand flooring all over the world.

Cradle of temporal power over all Western Friuli, thanks to the presence of the Benedictine Abbey of S. Maria in Sylvis, the community has through the centuries maintained intact its old fascination and mystery. The crystalline water that gushes out in great quantity was the source of great inspiration for the poet Ippolito Nievo to whom is dedicated a composition on the fountain of Venchiaredo. In Stalis, instead, the paddles of the old mill still turn from the strikes of the Lemene River.
